Lions!!!!Don’t take Stafford!!!!!!!!

There has been a lot of debate about who the sad franchise that is the Detroit Lions with choose with the first pick in the NFL draft. The majority belief seems to be that they will pick Mathew Stafford. I think this would be a terrible waste of a #1 pick. First of all, without a offense line, the QB cannot do anything. He will get sacked 5 times a game at least and never get off a clean pass. As he runs around looking for someway to elude the rushers, Lions fans will have visions of Joey Harrington on the TV until they realize that it is actually Stafford. I don’t doubt that Stafford is a good QB I just think that the Lions should sure up their O-line, then get a franchise QB at next years draft. Next year, there could be a better option at QB and this year there is a huge selection of good tackles to choose from. The other reason that the Lions should not take Stafford is because of what happened with Jamarcus Russell. Coming out of college everybody said the exact same thing that they are saying about Stafford. That he has a great arm, can make all of the pro throws, and that he just needs a little developing. After missing a season because of a holdout, Russell just looked out of place in the pro game. See what would have happened if the Raiders had waited until the next year to take a QB, there was Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco, yet the Raiders already chose a QB. If the Lions take Stafford at #1, I think that it will be a terrible mistake and the same thing that happened to Russell will happen to Stafford.

FINALLY!!!

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have finally opened up their eyes. They now see that the “negative aspects” of Terrell Owens, despite his play on the field, makes your team worse. He is and always will be a distraction to any distraught NFL team that is desperate enough to sign him. A lot of analysts say that “his play outweighs the distractions.” In my opinion, any player that is that much of a distraction, needs to go. He gets mad after every mistake made by another player, yet he can’t own up to his own mistakes. If something does not go his way he stomps around and pouts like a spoiled brat. There is no place for that kind of player in the NFL. Now that he has been released, people expect there to be a huge market for him. Owens, now 35 years old, is becoming only a above average receiver with above average behavior issues. I personally, doubt any team will even think about signing him until late in free agency. I hope that while he sits and waits every day in free agency, he realizes that he is not the player he used to be, and that he cannot just do whatever he wants anymore. Unfortunately, I doubt he will have a reality check. He has had trouble dealing with the fact that he is not the young phenom he used to be. Sadly, this is a common thing in the NFL these days. Players come out of college on top of their game, sign a big contract, and then that is about it, they think they have hit the high point and they can’t go any higher(AHEM…Jamarcus Russell). Maybe eventually a team like KC or Minnesota will take a chance on the high-risk commodity that is Terrell Owens, but then the entire circle starts again, sign a big contract…then after that he has his money and nothing else matters anymore.
